Present: Marcia, Dennis, Carrie, Rhonda, Pete, Joan, Larry, Tam, Laurie, Gayle

Marcia called the meeting to order and reviewed the minutes from January Motion by Joan to except min. 2nd By Carrie

Old Bus.: Marcia asked about any ideas of up-coming goals. No goals set for the next 6-month

Marcia asked if we want the start the refresher for next year. The vote was for the fall of 2009. Washburn is almost done with their refresher. Iron River will be in late Jan. or early Feb.

Marcia stated the in house training completed.

Up-coming training, February - training in Corny, Joanie, Carrie, and Pete are going from the service. They will have the ambulance from 5:00  6:30 p.m.

CPR refresher will be Monday, Feb. 23 at 6:00 p.m. the ambulance hall.

Marcia: Reviewed information gathered at the Milwaukee conference. Reviewed WARDs and billing service. Passed out information on the upcoming 6 hours/year continuing education from conferences for a refresher + 6 hour hands on through WITC. (Discussion followed)

Trail training on the pandemic flu in Kenosha, WI.

King air way maybe used in the future. It is not in the protocols but might be changed. They are easier to put in and cheaper.

New License will be coming down the pike on line.

Weapons of mass destruction training will be done on-line.

90% of the calls do not need light and siren.

The state is in fin. trouble. State is thinking of charging for EMT licenses and changing the scope of the license.

Pete reviewed Fire Association: Lifting guide lines and protocols. Discussion followed. Corny fire dept. would rather be paged as a stand by for lifting. Discussion followed. Most EMTs felt they would like to call the fire dept. when they were at the scene. The question was asked if we would like to do more training with the fire dept. The fire dept. training officer will call the EMT training officer to combine training. Discussion followed on fire fighter safety. The safety officer is in-charge of the safety of the fire fighters.

Discussion on transfer of care at a scene from first EMT to another EMT. We need to communicate better with each other.

An EMT presence is requested at the Northwoods Bike Tour coming to our area July 14/15 2009.

Laurie requested that all run reports be kept in one secure place.

Marcia will update the ambulance check sheet.

Carrie mentioned that if we felt it was affordable we should get a trainer that allows placing a Combi-Tube.

Marcia told all that if an EMT is hurt on the job, they will be paid at an EMT basic level, not paid on what they earn at their regular job.

Discussion on making a "packet" out of each run report that would include a run report, refusal sheet, HIPPA form, narrative sheet. This "could" be done during ambulance checks. NO decision.

Rhonda showed the group information on the X splint. Carrie will try to get a complimentary one to see if the group likes them. They are $15 each, but one size fits all. Rhonda also mentioned a new type of system for securing patients to the long board.

Joan showed example of an incident command sheet from her training at the school's emergency training. Runs were discussed.

Were should be using our clothing allowance soon. Possibilities were discussed. Thoughts were wind jackets, pants that would slide over regular pants.

There was a discussion handing DNRs.

Thanks to Carrie for donating a Megamover she won at the Milwaukee conference.
