DHS is currently taking public comment on the proposed EMS training curriculum changes.

This includes the changes in hours as follows:
  • EMR - 108 hours (currently 72 hours)
  • EMT - 288 hours (currently 180 hours)
dhs.wisconsin.gov/ems/training/curricula.htm will take you to the DHS website. The link summarizes curricula for EMR and EMT level training. Just click on what you wish to review.

When you scroll down you will find a section labeled "feedback". The link to make comment directly to DHS is in that section. Comments will only be accepted until September 6th!
Multiple comments from EMRs and EMTs throughout the area, especially service directors, cannot be ignored. Please take a few minutes and share your thoughts with decision makers.

COVID-19 Testing for EMS providers. - Local Health Departments can order COVID-19 testing for EMS/Fire providers with a known exposure during patient response and/or transport. An EMT/EMR/firefighter with exposure will need to call their county public health and talk with a nurse to request the order.
